Completely Screwed for Civ Pro, how can I learn it in 3 days

Alright, so my teacher was awful. She literally wasted most classes with personal stories and rarely taught anything proper. I think the only thing that was done decently was preclusion. I need to learn everything from the basics all the way to preclusion and erie (not all that specific though). What do you guys recommend I do?

I realize I have almost zero hope of getting a median grade in that class. I would really like a median grade though. The exam is basically like 2/3 MC and some essays. If anyone ever had a question they would have to research it themselves or it would be a game of cat and mouse. She would basically say nope that's not right either. I know I am responsible for my lack of knowledge as well. It can't be entirely the professor's fault.

There is only 1 practice exam up with a sample essay and it contains no multiple choice... I am guessing she cycles through them every year. Please help, I am desparate. Any charts, notes, etc. would be very helpful. I will try to do whatever I can to return the favor.

Acing Civ Pro. I bet you can get median if you work your way through the book (which can be done in a day easily).

Thanks for the tip. I have the E&E and Understanding Civil Procedure series. I am hoping this will help, but both are dense and there is no way I can look at both entirely. I totally screwed up crim law, so I am trying to minimize my other losses.

Keep your head up dude. I think Civ Pro is the class you have the best chance at learning it 3 days prior to the exam. FWIW, the Acing book is like 150 pages (as opposed to 500+ pages for the E&E), you should see if your library has it. It also has a checklist approach which I found fairly helpful.

I am in the EXACT same boat. I'm using the BarBri lectures (they are FANTASTIC) - if you haven't signed up for BarBri yet, you won't get access soon enough, so I would find someone who has who will let you log in and watch them. It's 6 hours for Civ Pro. The E&E and the Civil Procedure hornbook by Freer are my best friends (but I have a bit more time than you).

A couple people in my class have and love the Acing Civ Pro book - since its so short, that's probably your best bet (along with the BarBri lectures).

This is situation. FML. E&E, Freer, and Glannon Guide as much as I can.

The upside is there is very little to do in terms of practice exams in my case as she has none basically haha.

That sucks dude. Good luck. My prof posted two more recent ones without model answers. Mine's in 10-12 days, so I have still have some time (but other exams first). You can do it!

Are there any other Civ Pro exams you can look at though? I actually have my Civ Pro exam tomorrow night (I'm a 2L but took Civ Pro this semester), and practice exams were my saving grace. I took or looked at nearly every single one, which made my panic level significantly lower. While you won't be able to see how your particular professor likes exams written or where you're missing issues your professor would like to see at least look at some other exams to get an idea of how a Civ Pro exam will look like.

With that being said, Civ Pro is definitely something you can learn in 3 days. None of the concepts are too confusing. I highly recommend Acing Civil Procedure (which is what someone else recommended)--that book is fantastic. I'm planning on tabbing it and bringing it with me into the exam if I happen to get stuck anywhere.

The best thing you can do is stay calm and just do the best you can. My professor did a fantastic job teaching jurisdiction and then taught us nothing for the second part of the class. I hated it. His exams have covered concepts all over the place so it will be interesting to see what is on ours.

The other civ pro teacher is totally different, but I will try. I hope it works out.

Glannon Guide to Civil procedure. Seriously worth every penny and taught me enough civil procedure before the exam to do great.

I was in panic mode the week before the exam.

It will. You must stay optimistic.

Here's a little bit of a pick-me-up: I am not joking when I say that I completely freaked out on my Ks exam last year on the very first question. My mind just went blank and it was the most terrifying experience ever. I cannot tell you how close I was to walking out. But I ultimately stayed and I ended up doing just fine. It turns out my entire class thought that exam was a beast. Just remember that you are competing with your class...not the professor. It helps to put things in perspective. So what I'm saying is that if your professor did a shitty job at teaching I guarantee most of your class is in the same boat.

Was crim law the fault of your teacher also?

Nope, it was all my doing. Civ pro is a mixed bag of fun though.

I second the BarBri advice. I was surprised that I liked it so much, considering how inconsistent BarBri lectures are with other topics. I didn't even touch BarBri for Property or Ks, but liked it for Civ Pro. Good luck.

I've been using the E&E and Acing. I feel like I have a pretty good grasp on it.

I was in the exact same boat as you. I knew nothing about CivPro prior to a week ago.

Acing Civ Pro

and the Barbri online lecture by Rich Freer! (BEST!)

Freer also wrote a book which is amazing, but its kind of long, so if you can, listen to his 1L lecture on Barbri instead. It is very clear, he gives examples and explains everything so it makes sense.

If you listen to his lecture, and then run through the Acing CivPro checklists, you can do well above the median. Good Luck!

Read the E&E and do practice questions. I also have a civ pro outline heavily based off the E&E, if you want it. PM me your email if needed (note, just the OP, I don't want 10 billion PMs from randoms).
