impeachment question: contradiction

Hi guys,
quick question:
I know for prior inconsistent statements and prior consistent statements, if they fail to meet 801d1, they can still be offered into evidence for impeachment purposes (not for the truth of the matter(, and thus arent hearsay.
However, does the same apply to impeachment by contradiction/bias/sensory faculties?
what if D says light was green, and another witness told the cops it was red. Could the witness' statement be used to impeach D by contradiction, even though based on a hearsay statement?
