Wondering if I can get some more feedback on this question. And what does just sending out apps to a shit ton of judges entail, anyway (like how much work is it)? Thanks.

No. I applied Jan-Feb and didn't actually get my judicial internship until April. Maybe that's an atypical situation but most of the people I know applied in January and plenty of them got judicial internships as well.

It's not a lot of work once you get your resume and cover letter all set. The most work for judicial internships is calling around to see if they're accepting interns.

Thanks, mind if I ask where you're coming from, or what range? I'm at GW.

My story:
Major Federal District Court.
Applied late December. Interviewed mid-January. Got the offer mid-Feb. No grades asked at any point.

When to send: Get your apps out to Federal Court of Claims, DC District Court, Eastern District of Virginia before Christmas break starts. Interviews begin once you hit the ground in January.

What to send: same cover letter + resume to all

How they pick - District Court, depends, my clerks pick based on what they like about your resume (i.e., oh we both like the Yankees, we went to the same school); DC Superior Court literally picks randomly from their stack of 100s of resumes and gives you a shot. It's yours if you don't blow the interview - reasoning: everyone is so evenly qualified (oh, you took LRW too!) they will not take the time to look through all.

What do you put down for grades if you apply that early?

Just leave GPA and Rank out of your resume until you get grades.
