I really don't know what to do for tax tomorrow. I can't believe I'm actually going into an exam and essentially winging it. I don't understand the vast majority of the material, and I'm just bringing in my outline, hoping she asks about the right things, and praying. There is one question that seems to make up 25% of every test. I made sure to study insanely to make sure I can nail that one since it will probably be there again. Hopefully that will give me just enough cushion to make it out of the bottom 15% of the class, given how awful the rest of my answers will be. I wish I were saying this is the joking "lol, who cares about 2L way" but I'm seriously concerned about tomorrow.

put in a good 6 hours studying for t&e today, which is more than I ever put in before.

am going to condense my outline and do some multiple choice questions...make the TOC for my pre-written answers and outline...print out relevant sections of the UPC and UTC and call it a night...

trying to get to bed by midnight...ive got 4.5 more hours left to study. doesnt seem like enough :-/

Welp, Tax exam is done, and it was everything I imagined it would be: a living hell. Only 3 people finished early; nearly half the class was in uproar about not finishing. I, for one, didn't finish...it was nearly impossible to do everything he wanted us to do on that exam in 4 hours. It was 10 short-answer computations equaling 75% of the exam grade (that took me 3 hours) and 1 large tax computation equaling 25% of the exam grade, where you had to figure out the math for 13 separate transactions, insert the answers on a worksheet, and then go through a tax computation from gross income all the way through to exemptions. I got to Section 221 MAGI, and no further....probably missed out on a good 15-20 points.

No seriously. That was an AWFUL exam. I feel like I got hit by a train.

I took it pass/fail...I hope I threw enough shit at the wall that I at least passed.

Also, you know when you're freaking out when you have your earplugs in and your heart is pounding so fast that you have to take out the earplugs to concentrate on those last few minutes before time is called. This was me tonight when the proctor called 10 minutes, and I had just started the tax computation. I wanted to die.

I can sympathize....as I think a lot of people can. Tax sucks. I don't know why I signed up for this class.

Exams done. Didn't study even 1/10 of how much I did in 1L. Bet grades come out the same.

Up next, two in-class exams in 23 hours. Grand total of studying for 2nd exam thus far: 1 hour. Less than an hour and a half until game time - eating Jimmy Johns, watching gifs on the internet, surfing TLS, haven't printed outline for exam #1 yet. THIS. IS. TWO-EEELLLLLLLLLLLLLLL

Tax is universally the biggest clusterfuck of a class. I had 118 pages of notes for the semester and I just read through them 6 times in a row, made a 10 page cheatsheet of all relevant provisions organized by topic, and drew out a rough flowchart of how the (five) major areas we covered fit against each other.

It's amazing that there's a class taught at every law school, usually with old exams available, and still NOBODY has any clue how to approach preparing for it.

Oh. my. god. The exam I took last Friday has already been graded, and grades have been sent to the Dean for approval.

I think I just had a mini heart attack. That means my Professor graded 50+ exams in less than a week. WTF! I don't even feel like that's fair....how do we know if he just skimmed the damn exams and gave good grades to the people he liked.

There is no way I'm checking grades until at least the middle of the break. I'm not even done with finals yet!!! My nerves can't take much more of this.

Well, I bit the bullet and just took a tax exam without having a chance to actually study for it. One question was on one of the few topics I felt like I really had a grasp on, so that got my confidence up. Two questions seemed to go ok, though I am sure there were rough edges and some things wrong. But they should at least yield some points. But the last question (each one was 25%, I ran out of time pretty much right at the beginning and barely got a thought out, much less any viable analysis. I had no clue how to analyze it anyway. Again, I'm not shooting for an A here, but hopefully what I did is enough to just warrant a B.

Some profs just grade fast. My 1l Ks prof got through 60 4-hour all essay exams in like 10 days. Bankruptcy prof has 90+ essays and told us our grades will be available next week. It makes me wonder if other professors are just slackers

This is true, but seriously.....can I at least finish the semester and spend a couple days getting my heart rate down without worrying about checking grades? I felt pretty good about this exam and while it would be nice to check and see that I got an A- or a B+ I would be heart-broken and complacent if it was anything less than a B. That is not the way to go into the last 2 exams of the semester.

My LW2 Professor last year didn't have grades posted until the new semester was 2 weeks in. I do think some are slackers.
