Thank you so much to everyone who recommended the Freer lectures! They helped me soooo much for civ pro! I hadn't even realized they were available on Barbri until y'all mentioned it.
I have my last final tomorrow and I'm incredibly unmotivated to study

Oh 24-hour 40-page take home.. how I hate you... Last night of 1L looks like an all-nighter.. any advice for staying up AND maintaining the ability to make enough sense to get an A?

This seems odd but for my closed book con law exam I listen to the abridged version of the book "The nine" and I think it really helped me grasp the differences of the justices and get some indepth analysis of cases, so I recommend that to anyone who still has con law coming up.

Re: 1L Exam Prep and Motivation Thread
My lord, you poor, poor soul. Umm... my advice is to go some place public and work. In UG, I was falling asleep while doing a take-home Linear Algebra final, so I went to Dunkin Donuts and sat there from 2 am until 8 am doing the test. It worked well because I would've been really embarrassed to fall asleep in public, there was enough activity that I was distracted a little bit here and there, which varied it up enough to keep me awake, and there was the bonus of readily available coffee. So... just one thought.istara wrote:Oh 24-hour 40-page take home..

Re: 1L Exam Prep and Motivation Thread
yeah working in a public place can have pretty positive effects on both consistency of work and avoiding falling asleep. I left the library 30 min before closing and all the people who were still in the library were in my section. Im now at an undergrad library 10 miles away thats open 24 hours and hoping to study until the morning. Too hyped to try and sleep.
Contracts test tomorrow and then the write on starts. I plan on putting 4 hours a day for two weeks.

...not including case materials you need to read...right?! We have a few hundred pages to read in that regard. I think the worst I have heard is Cornell at around 1k (maybe more?).ilovesf wrote:Our write on packet, with directions and everything, is only 29 pages

You guys are given all the material that is needed for the casenote?
We are given a single case and then told to do additional research (and reading) as necessary.

Bless all your hearts for doing this competition right after finals. Reading what all of youse are going through I feel really lucky because my competition isnt until the week of July 23. Also, if we graded on we will know by the first week of July. So, either you grade on and you dont have to do the competition or if you didnt grade on you can spend the weeks before the comp. learning how to write a good casenote.
Good luck to you all!

I am jealous. How long is your note supposed to be?! This seems so short to include cases!ilovesf wrote:Nope, including case materials, hahaha.JenDarby wrote:...not including case materials you need to read...right?! I only looked at it quickly but I think there are 2 statutes and 3 or 4 cases. Our memo is a max of 10 pages. How long is yours supposed to be?JenDarby wrote:I am jealous. What even better is the first 11 pages is just instructions and information about the different journals. It's really only a 15 page (cases+statutes included) packet.Lasers wrote:trololololo.Flips88 wrote:Go DIAF, please. Re: 1L Exam Prep and Motivation Thread
I am about to start studying for my last exam, contracts, this is my first semester of law school. When does that, I think I just failed feeling go away? Just walked out of property a few hours ago and I am not convinced I did well. I mean I know you have to do to terrible to fail but really, failing out just is not an option for me. I never really quite got future interests and that test was about 50% based on it. Then I didn't get to cover an issue I spotted on the last essay, granted it was not "the" major issue that required a crazy analysis but it still was an issue.
Also what is up with the people who leave 45min before the exam is up? Are you trying to psych me out or did you give up?
A good lawyer friend told me the other day that all exams are like that and you should never really be worried an exam until you walk out feeling like you did a good job and that probably means you are getting a C.
He can say that though because he went to a good school and didn't have a brutal curve. I go to a bottom tier so I am kind of worried about it.
I got really sick last week and lost about 36 hours of time I could have used to study, so I am trying to finish this beer and get my bearings on what I need to know for contracts. Waiting for 1L grades is going to be torture.

Re: 1L Exam Prep and Motivation Thread
done with all my finals. Picked up my write on packet, just dont have the heart to look at it. Will do that either in a few hours, or tomorrow morning. Going to try to keep the same study schedule and work on the write on packet for at least 4 hours a day for two weeks straight.
Are there any websites anyone knows of where I can practice citation skills?
