Ya I find the amateur professors who seek to teach the class far more annoying.adonai wrote:I actually think of it as considerate that they waited until after class instead of interrupting class.northwood wrote:i hate how the podium hawks flock to the professor after every.single.class.

i hate how every conversation turns into lawschool related things. I understand that thats the big thing in our lives, and all, but when im out getting blackoutdrunk i dont want to talk about whatever bullshit went on in class that day, or that week. Id rather have a nice change of pace conversation, thanks....

Haha this is hilarious. No one in our section did anything like this (that I noticed)Kabuo wrote:Ok, first gunner complaint on my part. Today, our Torts prof gave us a comprehensive review of negligence since we're now done with it. So on the board were duty, breach, cause in fact, prox cause, and damages, with all the other stuff that goes with each one. Anyway, most of us either already had it written down somewhere, or wrote it down in class. But the gunners wrote it down and then gathered 'round the whiteboard to take pictures of it from every angle. You know, in case there's some secret to how to ace the exam on there that they couldn't see during class and need to review. Magnified, in 8 megapixels.

At my school they do this too...then post it on Facebook.....so my entire newsfeed is similar to what you said or a whiteboard with all the elements of contract formation. When gunners infiltrate my FB newsfeed enough is enough.

Also, do the gunners at anyone else's school all flock together? I guess a common sense of social ostracization is something to bond over.

Sometimes, but not always. My section has a group of about six people that are all gunners, some more so than others, but they're some of the biggest gunners in our section without a doubt.r6_philly wrote:Gunners are solitary beings.wildhaggis wrote: Also, do the gunners at anyone else's school all flock together? This is what I thought. They all eventually migrated together though, and move around in this strange phalanx formation.r6_philly wrote:Gunners are solitary beings.wildhaggis wrote: Also, do the gunners at anyone else's school all flock together? Re: What do you hate most about law school?
rank the gunners and post... give them creative names that most others can figure out, but not them and see how they react....
you could even do a playoff format. have the top ranked gunner vs the lowest ranked gunner to decide teh champion gunner of them all ( and then have an olympic ceremony type thing)
then bask in the lulz

Why I hang out with non-law school people. Gotta love having engineer friends nearby so as to get away from all these fucking undergrad humanities majors. I really don't like the homogeneous nature of the class in that respect.northwood wrote:i hate how every conversation turns into lawschool related things. ditto. i only hang with non-law school grad students and friends who work in the area. just can't really spend time with the 23 year old strait from UG kids who never really left the college phasecrossarmant wrote:Why I hang out with non-law school people. Re: What do you hate most about law school?
I know I might get pounded for this one, but what I honestly hate the most about law school is the "too-cool for school" crap.
If you talk with someone about jobs it always "why are you thinking about jobs."
If you wait to talk to the professor after the class to be respectful, you are a gunner.
If people find out you've been to office hours more than once, you are a gunner.
If you start a casual law related conversation at a bar, you are a gunner.
It's like a race to the bottom and it's weird. The anti-gunners are far more pretentious to me than the gunners are annoying.
I guess that makes me a gunner

You got it all wrong. It is if you raise your hand in class every five minutes and then argue with the teacher over every answer they give saying that what they are saying is "unfair" does "not make sense" or etc... you are a gunner. It is not gunnerish to save your questions for office hours or to talk to your teacher after class. Those are anti-gunner moves.

Re: What do you hate most about law school?
The thing is the people who respond negatively to all of the above all talk about "competition" and the curve and all sorts of things amongst themselves. It is really no different with them either, which is quite hypocritical. The only difference I see is that they're talkers, but not doers. Going to office hours and meeting with the prof. in private never hurt anyone and doesn't intrude on others' precious tuition dollars.kwais wrote:I know I might get pounded for this one, but what I honestly hate the most about law school is the "too-cool for school" crap.

Re: What do you hate most about law school?
some of us really are too cool for school because we realize we're paying exorbitant amounts of money to learn nothing of practical use and just counting down the days until biglaw. sorry u mad. if i loved school i'd have gotten a phd or some crap. I came to lawl school b/c it's a means to an end. a means I happen to find really boring and stupid.adonai wrote:The thing is the people who respond negatively to all of the above all talk about "competition" and the curve and all sorts of things amongst themselves. "thinking about jobs" is tite - that's anti-gunner. Gunner is gunning for grades instead of hustling for jobs. All 4 of the things you mentioned are pretty normal.
The annoying thing is when some kid starts arguing with the prof in class for 15 minutes and tries to be an amateur prof.
