End Game?
The fools in my section are starting some juvenile game to play during class, where they say a random word during a cold call. How can I put a stop this nonsense? I'm not a "gunner" but it's becoming a distraction...the discussion is confusing enough without people laughing without reason. Would it be a bad move (career/reputation-wise) to try putting a stop to this?

Let them do their thing. It won't last. Plus your prof will know whats going on and will deal with it accordingly, be it in class or reflected in their grade.nodummy wrote:The fools in my section are starting some juvenile game to play during class, where they say a random word during a cold call. I don't see why this should affect you.

Yes, I read that. I guess I don't see how that would be such a distraction. Although, if he is already finding the material confusing, then I could see how it could be frustrating to have other people fooling around.nodummy wrote:"...but it's becoming a distraction...the discussion is confusing enough without people laughing without reason."Redzo wrote:I don't see why this should affect you.

Re: End Game?
It doesn't matter what the people in your class say about the cases, it matters what your professor says.

OP doesn't want no stinking laughing in his classroom. Smiles are also discouraged, as they indicate happiness, which hinders the learning process

Re: End Game?
Just the other day I thought it would be really funny if everyone in class did the secret word game like in PeeWee's Playhouse.
Prof: "So what is the prima facie case for--"
Class, in unison: "AAAAAAAAHHHHH!!!!"

Re: End Game?
There will always be something. If not this game, some other distraction. In my experience, it is certain people with work experience in a certain area challenging the prof to the point of ridiculousness. I imagine this is a lot more time consuming and distracting than your game, but I deal with it.nodummy wrote:The fools in my section are starting some juvenile game to play during class, where they say a random word during a cold call. Bahaha, the thought of OP sweating profusely waiting for the next word in the 'game' to be spoken, nervously tapping the table with his pen.dood wrote:thought just occurred to me: the OP is just imagining it all...schizo.
