You will be judged by your performance against your peers on test day. Since they have the same shitty teacher your class is now called "Teach Yourself Civil Procedure." I honestly prefer having a crap teacher over a good one because I think it is easier to get a good grade when everyone's knowledge sucks. When the teacher is really good everyone will know the topic better.
Find past exams from this professor. If he doesn't have any easily available ASK him for past exams. Ask 2Ls what the test is like. Once you know what test day is going to look like find a hornbook or outline that is keyed to that type of thinking.
E&E and Emmanuel are pretty good, but there might be one keyed better to your professor's test or book.
