Outlining question

Do you only put things (concepts, definitions) in your outline that the professor talked about it class? For example, the emmanuel outline is full of tons of crap, but I only have to know the stuff my prof. specifically mentions, right? So in reality, a lot of the stuff in commercial outlines and supplements I can just skip over. Is this the right way to approach outlining?

You've just discovered why commercial outlines are basically a waste of time and money, unless you are completely lost and can't understand what the hell is happening in your class.
