Fed Courts/Conflicts etc...

Pros:
1) Half of the exec board of Law Review are there, and if you can be smart without being a douche (presumably possible if you've got the offer in hand, amirite?) then you're making a favorable impression for board elections.

2) The classes are gunnerish for a reason -- they're good for clerkship applications, if the cons don't get to you

3) You get to see where you stand against the best in the school - and you crushed it

Cons:
1) might put a dent in your summa campaign

2) might put a dent in your clerkship campaign

3) You get to see where you stand against the best in the school - and you were a massive pile of fail

No No No No No No No No No No aaaaaand No.

2L is the year to load up on fluffy uncurved shit like "art law" and "organic lentils and the law: a seminar." Seriously. The only bar courses I took the whole year were conlaw 2 and evidence. The rest was uncurved. And I raised my GPA like crazy and then applied for clerkships.

Get a firm offer, then get a clerkship, then take hard classes.
