MPRE August 2011

Post by constable » Sat Aug 06, 2011 1:05 pm

So? How did it go for everyone? I personally thought it was tougher than expected.

Ditto. It was pretty rough. I took a Prof. Responsibilty course this summer at my school and did about a decent amount practice questions but some of those questions on Saturday were difficult. I hope the curve works out in my favor. sigh...

Yep, there were a few questions where the 4 answers were evenly divided between two issues that were obviously in the fact pattern. I didn't know which to choose so I'm hoping I didn't get less than 80 on this stupid thing. We won't find out until Sept. 9th or thereabouts so nothing we can do about it AND the worst that happens is we take it again in November. Still, i want this thing out of my life.

There is no curve. You just need to get 30-36 right.

I thought it was easier than the practice questions Kaplan provided. It seemed those were all tricky, whereas there were many on the real test that were straightforward to see if you knew the rule. But it did have its share of questions where more than one answer seemed feasible.

Trust me, you probably passed. I got a C+ in Prof. Resp., studied for 8 hours the night before the exam, felt terrible about it, and ended up with a 130+. The MPRE is notorious for making you feel like you failed and then surprising you with a nice score a few weeks later.

I'm somewhat worried. I listened to the BarBri video while surfing the Internet (meaning I took nothing in), read the short outline in the BarBri book (1-2 hours total), and then did ten practice questions and missed only two (way too small a sample to be an accurate predictor, I know), and that was it. I still think I passed, but there was a lot I didn't know, especially the stuff involving judges and duties owed to corporations, so it could be ugly.

I did the barbri practice exams and all that but still feel like I completely flubbed. I guess we will all find out for sure on 9/9. Meet back here to let us know how you did. All I need is an 81 but would love an 86 just to cover any other jurisdicition.

Obviously you are trying to be rude for no reason and can't even answer the question.

It was very clear that I was talking about this week, not next week.
What seems clear is that he said we'd get the scores on the 9th, and somehow you found that to be a contradiction to your expectation of getting the scores this week, despite the 9th being this Friday.

Scores are up. I got a 111! Nice. Ethical enough for ANY jurisdiction. ;)

Constable, congrats. I got a 111 too (coincidence) even though I can't count the days of the week, we are equally ethical. Cheers!

Very nice, congrats to you my ethical equal!!! That test is out of our lives forever, no matter where we choose to practice in the USA!!!! To people who didn't fare as well and to those set to take it in NOV: it is way tougher than all the BS you hear elsewhere. Either that or the August exam was an out of the ordinary experiment in making the MPRE for real. In any case, study and good luck!

Cal requires only 86, the highest bar.
So you're good.

If you get an 87 or better you are good in any state. Congrats!

Got a 120. As a PSA, if your school does not require PR, (not sure if there are any that don't) I would not take it. It is hard to beat the curve, if that matters to you. You don't need PR to pass the test.

My impression after the MPRE? I took it one week after the bar exam. The MPRE is not a cake walk, don't let anyone convince you otherwise. I found it somewhat easier than the MBE, but only because it was shorter. It is just as tricky. I passed the MPRE with a very good score--127. But to get that, I took the Kaplan MPRE course in May, then studied Professional Responsibility as part of Barbri, and then for a full week non-stop, I studied the Barbri materials. Again, not an easy test by any means. Don't be lulled into complacency.

I agree, even though i passed easily myself (after studying for a full week), i know quite a few people who will be taking it for the second time in november. Do yourself a favor if you havent taken it yet and study properly.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
