Rising 2Ls: What are you using as a writing sample for OCI and your 2L job search in general? Work from your 1L summer? Brief from your legal writing class last year? Something else?

I'm using my brief. Although I've written a number of things for my summer job, they don't want really thorough stuff. After my first assignment I was told: "This is really well written, much better than I would have done. But don't ever address counterarguments; it just gives the judge a reason to rule against me." As a result, my summer work doesn't show my full range as well as my brief does.

If your current employer told you not to write that way what makes you think prospective employers will want to see that type of writing? Unless you're applying for a position as a LRW professor.
