Top Law Schools

I am going to be a 1L this year and a few lawyers that I know have advised me to purchase commercial outlines to supplement my studies. I was wondering if anyone has an opinion on which outlines are good or bad? I was looking at both Emanuel and Gilbert outlines and I am not sure which one to purchase or whether I should select another type. Thanks

The ones that go with your casebook.

Honestly, I bought Emmanuals (Contracts) and Gilberts (Torts) and found zero use for either of them during the first semester. Too much stuff the professor doesn't talk about.

The only upside I will say is that they have some practice questions in the back.

This is a very personal question. Folks study differently.

Let me clear about this so that there is no misunderstanding: I would strongly suggest that you don't use commercial outlines. If need be, get one from an upperclassmen ,but even then, you should do your own outlines. You can use the upperclassmen's a guide...period. As far as I am concerned, these commercial outlines are a scam and shouldn't be used by most folks. Take that advice as you wish.

There's worthwhile input to be had on which supplements to use once you actually know your casebooks and professors. Until then, just consult the stickied 0L thread.

Wait until you start school and then go to the library and flip through the outlines that are available before buying anything.
