Mac & One Note

So I used the search function, but did not find a clear answer to the following:

Since OneNote is not available for Mac, what note taking software is best recommended for Mac. I did a google search and something called GrowlyNotes comes up, as well as Circus Ponies Notebook. Does anyone have any recommendations on either of these or perhaps another program worth getting?

Okay DesertFox, here is where I reveal my lack of tech knowledge, I have no idea what that means.

Ha, I shouldn't have phrased it as a question to you. I meant to ask everyone. WINE is a program that lets you use windows on Linux. MacOS is based on a Unix like OS, which probably means it can be easily ported.

OP, I purchased Circus Ponies and it seems like a great program. I haven't gotten too in depth with it yet, but it seems to be a great way to keep your notes, outlines, calendars, to-do's, etc. all organized and in one place.

I also really like the diagramming feature in CP, I can see it coming in very handy come August.

I ran OneNote on my mac this year using Parallels and it worked without a hitch. In retrospect though I probably should have just used Circus Ponies Notebook.

Growly Notes is freeee, I just downloaded it the other day. Haven't really had a chance to use it, but it seems like it can do everything I'll need.

I've read other TLS threads on the same topic and people seem to like Circus Ponies.

I haven't really looked at it much, but w/ a Hotmail account you can use One Note. It works the same way as w/ Gmail.

Why do you think you should've used circus ponies?

I'm new to Macs but my fiance is all "ONLY MACS IN THIS HOUSE" (I guess that's what happens when people work at software companies, I don't know, LOL)
So I'm getting a Mac for law school, and he was just going to have me do the OneNote with Parallels (I am pretty sure that's the program he said), is there some reason NOT to do that?

i have circus ponies. works pretty well. it is worth taking the time to figure out how to outline on it, too. but it works well for notes especially.

+1. Especially in "coherence mode"...it feels just like any other program running on your machine.

So I guess the question is whether parallels + onenote ($160 total) is worth more than circus ponies ($30 w/ academic discount)?

Anyone who has insight, please comment.

I am interested in the answer to this as well, though I find it hard to believe that parallels + onenote is $130 better than circus ponies. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, though.

This is my thought as well, though if we are talking about usefulness over three years as well as other benefits of getting parallels maybe it is worth the $130.

If you will use parallels for other things, then it may be worth it. Don't forgot to also add the cost of a windows license if you don't already have one.

For what it is worth, I use parallels for some of my other software, but I use Circus Ponies for my note taking. The software is just awesome and just what I need.

Why do you need OneNote so bad? You don't. I'm a 3L and I been using a Mac all through lawschool. Heck, you could use any word processing software and it would do just fine. Try NeoOffice. Its free, and can read/write Microsoft Word files as well as other file formats.

don't waste your money on OneNote. And trying to run Windows programs on Mac is silly. why buy a Mac if you want Windows?

I have just heard OneNote is a great program, so I figured I would ask. After these responses I don't plan on getting it. It seems like a large $ investment for little return.
