Several questions about BAR BRI --

1. Are there ever sales on the course? $3,000 is a lot of money. I guess they lock in the price, but I'm hoping for 10% or something more off.

2. Does it really matter whether you take it by video or in person?

3. Is there any real difference between the morning and evening sessions? If it isn't a work issue, is it primarily a matter of whether you're a morning or evening person?

4. Would you take it at your own law school with your classmates, or would you switch schools and take it at another school?

1. There are sometimes coupons/deals/things through raffles and whatnot at the school. Big firms also usually pick up the cost in some way, but since I wasn't going that route, I have no clue how that works. Bottom line, I'd put down the 100 or whatever to lock in the price. It certainly isn't going to get any cheaper.

2) I did the video. Loved it. Loved. But the idea of having to sit in a room with a bunch of people bitching about how stressed they were about the test sounded like torture to me. I also liked the ability to pause at will, and watch the video whenever. If I was out the night before until 2, I didn't have to worry about dragging myself up for a 9am class. Plus I think technically we could sit in on as many in person classes as we wanted, though I never bothered to go.

Sometimes there are $100 off discounts, but in three years I never saw anything bigger than that advertised. Firms will almost always pay for bar prep and even some govt jobs give a bar stipend which is plenty to cover the course and then some. There is no difference between sessions. All the lectures are given live once and they're recorded. So in my state the morning session is the live lecture (but it's just a lecture, you can't raise your hand and ask questions or anything like that) and the evening session is a recording of that same lecture. Any smaller location will also be DVD of that morning lecture with a few live lectures thrown in to keep things interesting.

edit: previous poster made a good point - it's worth locking in the price early. The people who waited till this year to sign up paid $300 more than people who signed up my 1L year.

edit: previous poster made a good point - it's worth locking in the price early. The people who waited till this year to sign up paid $300 more than people who signed up my 1L year.

Plus when you sign up 1L, you get access to a big book of outlines which is somewhat useful and access to Freer's Civ
Pro lecture, which is excellent.
