Do you enjoy law school?

I've heard different responses. Simple question, no need for a long intro.

If you had asked me last semester, my response would have been quite a bit different.... This semester I had more classes and much more work assigned. I feel like I burned out fairly hard about a month ago (and am still riding that burnout). I think that part of the burnout has to do with feeling like there are constant hoops to jump through; I feel like law school is a lot about trying to play a guessing game with people you are trying to score points with (profs), rather than about really learning for academic (or god forbid--transcendent--) reasons. Initially, I had fun trying to compete and play the game so to speak, but now I just want to relax and not need to continually prove something to various people. So at this point, no, I really am not enjoying it. But I do happen to be in the middle of finals, and there are some other personal reasons that are very likely compounding my misery right now. But I do still find some of the subject matter quite interesting. Also, I see law school largely as a means to an end, so I feel like my level of present enjoyment of law school is not all that important, at least in terms of influencing my commitment to complete law school or my ability to find an employment niche that is satisfying to me eventually.

Yes, I thoroughly enjoy law school. The material, the people, everything. I hope I enjoy the actual practice of law this much, because that's going to be very different, but it's been a great year, and I hope the next two are as good or better.
ask me again when I get this semester's grades, though, that might change my tune

Nailed it. I think I've figured out the game from my end and this semester I've mostly been dancing inside the profs' perimeters (I hope), but honestly, it feels intellectually dissatisfying.

I enjoyed 1L much more than 2L. But I'm still very glad I came to law school.

I like the idea of law school. If I was learning law on my own, I'd enjoy it. I enjoy some of the topics we cover and things we do. I will enjoy having a JD and the job it gets me. But law school itself? Not really. I'm not the competitive type.

Wow, I expected it to be the other way around. 3L seems like the biggest blowoff year where people load up on easy A classes and you either already have an offer or you don't and no grades will help or hurt that either way.

I love exams but hate the other 3 months. Maybe it's because I'm an athlete, but I fucking love when the competition in the air is palpable.

It's the only school I've ever enjoyed; it gets a lot better once you can pick your classes after 1L.
