Top Law Schools

How much would an IP litigation attorney expect to make during their first year out of school? Assume they have a degree from a top IP law school and would be living in a very large city in new england. Would $160k a year for the first year out of school be out of the question? Or should they expect to make much less?

There is no such thing as a top IP law school. If you go to a general practice firm, you'll make whatever else makes. Good boutiques pay market, crappy one's don't.

I basically agree with everything you said; however, one could argue that some schools are slightly higher ranked in IP than their general rankings. For instance Boalt is likely higher ranked than some of the T6 schools in IP, and Stanford is probably higher than Yale/Harvard for IP rankings. With that said, any school that is not a top school overall cannot be called a top IP school (ie. individual speciality rankings means nothing).
