Anyone enrolled in this program or know someone who is? What are job prospects like for grads? Any info that can't be found on the program's website, e.g. faculty quality, career placement, etc., would be greatly appreciated. Might this program be useful to someone who graduated from a TTT and is interested at working at a larger firm in Atlanta, Charlotte, New York, or DC?

If you want an LLM solely to increase your chances at "big Law," then the above is true.

If the LLM teaches how to set up your own shop, then it wouldn't be that bad. But don't pay a lot of money for it.

There are some pretty decent entrepreneurship MBA programs out there, some even online, that cost a whole lot less than an LL.M. from Duke. Besides, starting and running businesses is something business schools should know more about than law professors, the latter tending to be somewhat...um...impractical?

An LL.M. that isn't in tax is awfully hard to justify. I admit it; I was toying, (pre-Katrina), with doing Tulane's LL.M. in Admiralty but the demand for graduates of that very expensive program is rather small. But at least that degree would have been in LAW, not a mish-mosh of business subjects.

I graduated from Duke with an LL.M. in Entrepreneurship. While I generally agree with the previous poster's flow chart, I think this the Duke's Entrepreneurship LL.M. is an exception to the rule. The program is kind of hybrid MBA, and a lot of your classes will be in the business school. You'll get exposure to graduate-level business classes (strategy, management, accounting, finance, etc.) and law classes (IP, securities, venture capital/private Equity Law, taxation, etc). The most valuable part will be the networking opportunities, workshops, one-on-one advising, the mandatory internship, and practice pointers you'll receive throughout. I think it was a good program and has definitely paid dividends in my legal career. It also has put me in a position to possibly transition out of law to the business world.

That said, I think you will reap the most benefit out of the program if you have some practice experience under your belt.

Also, Duke is expensive, but it also has a huge endowment and is pretty liberal with grants and scholarships once admitted.

Hope that helps.

Edit: Just noticed that OP was from 2009 ... oh well
