Top Law Schools

I thought the brief was more difficult/time consuming based on the topic we were given as compared with the memo topic. But our brief was also due before spring break, so there was much more of a time crunch as compared to our memo.

I find the brief a bit more time consuming, but only because it's an appellate brief and we must argue for new rules in the law. IMO, memos are more application, whereas briefs are more rule explanation. Also our memo was closed-universe, whereas our brief is open research. But I wouldn't really say that one was harder than the other. Same effort, different results.

My brief was a monster. My memo, not so much.

The brief was an appellate brief and you could use law from any court. The memo was limited to Texas only.

Yeah I think it definitely depends on the topic. My last memo was about securities fraud. I found it boring as hell, and thus hard to complete. My brief was "longer" but about freedom of speech so it was much easier.

Is your LW course graded?

I knew that the T3 schools only used a pass/fail system, but I didn't realize it was more popular than that. Seems rather silly though. Wouldn't a HP be basically an A/A-, a P be a B+/B/B-, and a LP be a C+/C/C-? Though I guess that doesn't calculate into your overall GPA then, does it? Which is too bad, because it's a boost for me.

Yea Illinois doesn't grade LRW, just high honors, honors, pass, and fail.
