Rankings were released not too long ago as well as Dean's List.
Sections have roughly 55 people each.
First Section had 9 people on Dean's List.
Second Section had 4 people on Dean's List.
Third Section had 9 people on Dean's List.
I'm in Second Section. I feel that my GPA is being affected, not because I didnt perform well, but because the other sections received a disproportionate amount of high grades, and, of course, Im ranked against them.
Should I bite my tongue? Request to talk to Dean or registrar?

Try going to a school w/ only 2 sections and being in the section that was curved to a 2.6 while the other one was curved to a 3.0 both semesters. Yeah, I was in the screwed section and I am still bitter about that, even though I luckily got to transfer out of that school and, lo and behold, I am ranked even higher here.....scholarship slashing anyone? (there was a top 1/3 requirement.).

Going to the dean will do no good. Your argument will come off as bitching and will not bring about any change. Maybe the smart kids are in the other sections? Maybe they study differently? The school I attend has two sections and the first section gets to keep all their profs from first semester and my section had to change all but one, which i am sure will lead to differences in grades since the first section is already used to the exams that their profs give. not much you can do besides change your study habits....or suck it up

In my situation, it was extremely unfair. I also had two new prof's do deal with AND all the other crap. My school did not have a mandatory curve and the administration used that to their advantage to eliminate scholarships. Completely messed up. The LSAT median in the other section was also much lower than in my section, from what I gathered.

in my school ALL sections are merged in together, I'm an evening non-traditional student, and our section consistently outperforms the day section(s), but are dragged into the same curve. We've complained, upper class-man have complained. It has not done ANY good!

How'd you find out about the disparity? Was it made clear by the admin? Did your section in fact have more on scholarship, or seemingly smarter/more ambitious kids?

Note that a different number of people on Dean's List does NOT suggest a different curve used between sections.

This. There's nothing unfair in the slightest about what happened at OP's school. In fact, it would be something of a statistical anomaly if every section had the exact same distribution of GPAs.
