Grades at Columbia are all incredibly late. Let's see if NYU has it's act together.

Yeah, the date changed to February 4th at 3pm. I don't think its that big of a deal, but I wasn't going to start preparing/researching until the weekend anyways.

I have a feeling anyone with more than 2 interviews either goes to NYU or has substantial WE.

How is it possible to be on the waitlist for your first choice preference? Does that make sense to anyone else? Or am I misunderstanding the alternate process?

uploaded 34 resumes. did maybe 15 cover letters, the rest were just resumes.
got 3 interviews, 3 waitlists. from UConn.
the alternate could be that you are next on their choice list if someone drops out. its not just about our schedules conflicting, if i understand correctly.
from what i read on the FAQ section, it is safe to assume that we may get more interviews/updated waitlisting as the week progresses. i'm sure there are people who will drop, or places that are running late on choosing. i also hear that table talk is really a great strategy - my girlfriend got a job offer that way 2 years ago.

preferences are only used to resolve conflicts between two scheduled interviews. they don't increase your chance of actually getting an interview with a given employer

I misread. I see now that there is also an "Interview" status in the waitlist section in addition to "Alternate" status. Thanks for clearing that up.
2 interviews. Applied for 11.

1 interview/3 waitlists/29 uploads. Tier 2. My roommate got 3 interviews, 2 waitlists, with 17 uploads.
The interview I got was a place I am really interested in, so at least that's something.

I remember last year the people in my school (not NYU) who got more interviews were the ones who uploaded their stuff immediately after finals and before Christmas. And some people already have jobs lined up from winter break so their interview slots should open up soon.

interview slots only open up to people waitlisted, right?

There's also a period of free sign up if after taking everyone they wanted in the first instance, then everyone off the waitlist, (and people cancel), there are still openings. I think I got 2 interviews like that last year.

9 applications submitted at the last minute, 1 interview, 1 waitlist. Some of these applications were pretty random. Some of my apps were pretty random, to places like Port Authority of NY and Metropolitan Museum, because there were only like 20 organizations left when I applied.

4 interviews, 1 WL. My resume was very strong but (1) I am set for summer and so canceled all interviews, and (2) you pwned me for 1st semester grades, which is really all that matters for 2L EIP.
Anyway, I hope my cancellations free up some spots for people. I wouldn't be too worried if I were you. You can also just network at the tables to get a job, even without the interviews.
