2Ls: Did you do better, the same, or worse 1L spring?

Post by lawloser22 » Sat Jan 22, 2011 2:16 pm

I know most people generally do about the same second semester, but some people vastly improve. In terms of rank, anyone drop more than a few percent?

I'm not sure what you're trying to find out here. The same curve applies. It's a zero-sum game.

How consistent individual performance is from first to second semester. While it is a zero-sum game, certainly everyone does not end up with the exact same grades and rank after second semester as they did after first. People move around on the curve. I guess I'm most interested in seeing how many end up saying "same" to get an idea of how big the fluctuations may be.

There's no good way to answer this. There are just to many pieces. I did better my spring semester, but I did significantly less work than I did in the fall.

I did worse, because I became somewhat lethargic after my first semester (I worked my hardest first semester of law school out of fear), and I took what I considered the "hard" 1L classes at the same time second semester. If you maintain your momentum second semester, I think it might be easier to get good grades, because a bunch of your classmates who did alright first semester will not be working as much.

I did very well both semesters, but I felt like second semester I had more outside class responsibilities (ex moot court).

Like how I feel with 2L right now\

good luck

I'm not sure what you are trying to say here. Even if the same curve applies, which is not necessarily true at all schools, comparing 2nd semester 1L grades with 1st semester 2L grades can provide some information. For one, it is the first time you are allowed to actually choose your classes. So, please don't throw around buzz words to sound intelligent. Thanks!

One of us is misunderstanding the question the OP is presenting. He is asking current 2Ls, the difference in their performance from their fall 1L year to their spring 1L year.

That said, the curve generally stays the same, so while there are fluctuations, you should find that there are just as many people who did better as there are people who did worse their spring semester.

I did slightly better. Some do better, some do worse. But it's unusual to do great first semester, and then just completely bomb second.

While grade wise I cannot yet say, but as far as how I FEEL about my performance, I can say I did far better this term than in fall.

I did better. Went from right at the top 10% mark to comfortably over it (top 5%?) my second semester.
