First semester grades and job prospects

Post by Mauve Velociraptor » Thu Jan 20, 2011 12:14 am

So I'm an evening 1L at a Tier 2 school in New York. My grades for the fall semester were as follows: Torts: A; Contracts I: A; Legal Analysis & Writing: B; Intro. to Law: P (pass/fail course).

I know the B kind of sticks out like a sore thumb, but I interned at the Southern District of New York as an undergraduate and am on a first name basis with 2 judges in particular. I'm going to personally deliver my summer intern applications at their chambers tomorrow morning.

What are my prospects?

I have also submitted an application to the King's County DA's office, but that's pretty much a guaranteed internship, since I know the head of racketeering there.

Any predictions will do.

Impossible to say. I'd imagine the SDNY federal judge internships are among the most difficult to get since so many people apply to them from all of the best schools. Knowing someone could only help you, but it provides no guarantees.
