Do firms evaluate GPA based on the curve of your school?

Anyone have any experience with this. It seems 1L curves are the same at all top 20 schools. (Obviously some have H/P/F grading, but otherwise)

Why would they not? 1L curves are certainly not the same at all top 20 schools (e.g. Cornell's median is around 3.35 while GULC is around 3.15 - why would firms just ignore that?).

Firms definitely prefer to try to rank you if they can. Many firms are familiar enough with the grading curves at the top schools that they can figure out your approximate rank if you don't have a published one.

Meh, whatever, wasn't my point, which is that definite differences do exist.
