2L grades thread - 1L's can't have all the fun.

Post what you think you got in all your classes, and then when grades come out, you can compare/post what you actually got. Lowballing is safe, and while over-estimators will be thoroughly mocked, the glory does goes to those who can back up their swagger.

for me:
Antitrust: C+
Legal Professions: A-
Corporations: B
Alter. Disp. Res.: A -
Admin Law: B +

I know I bombed Antitrust, so I'm giving myself better grades on the ones that I felt I had a decent grasp of... it's a way to give myself false hope that my GPA won't be horrible because of one really bad exam...

Business Enterprises (A-)
Income Tax (B+)
Legal Profession (B+)
Comparative Private Law (A-)
Public International Law (B+)

I'm not going to lie to you. I didn't open either my Business Enterprises or Legal Profession casebook once.

Evidence: A-
Prof. Resp.: B
Adv. Crim. Pro.: B+

We'll see though. I went to PR the first day and never went back. I went to the other two classes less than half the time. Most of my focus this semester was on my externship and a teaching fellowship. The teaching fellowship typically gives a 5-credit A if you don't screw up your writing requirement, but it doesn't register until the spring.

I am making this the 2L/3L grade thread.

For people who don't know the UChicago grade system, 177 is the median/B; 180+ is an A (185s are very very rare, 186s are basically never awarded, 182 is often enough to have a model answer - only .4% of the graduating class in any year graduates with a 182 average).

Federal Jurisdiction: 179
Corporation M&A: 180-181
Corporate Practicum: [redacted]

I read maybe 15% of the stuff for Fed Jur and M&A, and I studied about 3 hours for each exam.

Woosh, 177B--180+A. Seems tight (that's what she said).

My lowballed, blatant speculation since I'm not quite done:
ConlawII: medianish
Patent: medianish
Copyright: slightly above medianish
Evidence: slightly below mediansih
Average: hopefully medianish...less than that and I'll begin night and day worrying that after my SA, I'll get no-offered due to grades.

I haven't cracked a casebook all semester.

Corporations - B+

Con Law II - A/A-

Evidence - B

I'm hoping this keeps me out of "offer-rescinded-pwned" territory......

Was unclear. 180-186 is an A. I guess "A+" would be 185/186, but those grades are so rarely given that they may as well not exist. Like I said, 182s are rare enough that only one person every 2-3 years graduates with a 182 or higher cumulative average. ~5% of the class graduates with 180.5 or better, ~18% with 179 or better.

Gotcha. I really only quoted because I saw a lame "that's what she said" joke. Makes sense, though. Now back to studying...

corps+business associations: A

acctg: P/F

evidence: B+/A-

I don't deserve those grades if I get em. I skipped probably a good 70% of class.

So what's the lowest grade possible at UChi?

So, in other worse...you did not work, read 15% of the stuff, studied for the amount of time you probably have class per week, and think you'll get an A- and an A. Cool story bro.

Haha, TToN slayed it 1L, transferred to UChi, slayed it there, got a 2L SA, and snagged a CoA clerkship (yeah, I spend lots of time on TLS). I'd say that, by the transitive property of addition, he/she's the bees knees at lawl skool.

amirite?

TToN: teach me.

Yeah, we'll see. It would represent a pretty significant drop in performance, so eh. I've decided to put my opinion that law school is easy to the test. Also, senioritis.

Also... 181 would be an A-, 179 would be a B+. I think 180-181 = A-, 182-184 = A, 185-186 = A+.. but really, switching things from numbers to letter grades is a useless exercise.
