I should've asked this WAY earlier, but how many issues are typical per hypo?

on my civpro exam we had:

- Personal Jurisdiction & Challenging Personal Jurisdiction (including internet jurisdiction rules)
- Subject-Matter Jurisdiction
- Supplemental Jurisdiction
- Rules 4, 12, 13, 14, and 20
- Choice of Law Test
- Venue & Change in Venue
- Erie
- Claim Preclusion

Is that per question, or sum total? I can't tell if that's a lot of issues or not.

And this is why your question is silly. The best answer is to look up your specific professor's old exams. Time limit also matters a lot. Complexity of the issue, how deeply ingrained into the fact pattern it is are all relevant to your question.

Asking how many issues in an exam is like asking how many books are in someone else's library. Do you have any idea what kind of books, how big their library is, how big your library is, what kind of books are in your library?

Because there can be 150 issues to spot in 4 questions.

That is really professor specific.

My professor told me in the review session that there were over 230 issues that could be spotted on her exam for points, and that no student had ever gotten more than 2/3's of them.

The answer to life, the universe, and civpro exams is 42.

How the fuck could there be 230 separate issues on a CivPro exam?

To the OP, the answer is whatever past exams suggest and what vibe your prof gives off. Some like really convoluted ridiculous things, others are very straightforward (like my CivPro prof was).

That is why I made a thread asking if anyone has a checklist for civ pro. No answers yet LMAO
Im sitting here now with all of my glannon guides trying to make a list of every procedural problem possible.

She told us the exact question after her 3 page hypo is going to be: " What procedural possibilities/issues are there?"

I am going to hit everything she discussed that I can possibly remember. It is closed note.

after studying all my professor's old exams, I now love him more than I already did [which was a lot]--basically, theres a super long hypo, at the end of which, the "judge" tells you what issues to resolve for her and that if you can find any other way to get the case out of her court room afterwards, do so, but really focus on the issues she asked for. So its like, the major issues are spelled out...the brownie points are up for the grabbing. Its awesome because certain issues in civ pro necessarily lead to certain other issues...so when theyre spelled out for you, its hard to miss the sub-issues. <3 <3 LOVE this man.

oh, and they seem to have between 4-7 main issues...with probably a few extras for brownie points if you can spot them
