i'm sure you have all heard about this site. i've seen on google but never thought of going there because i thought it'd be some bs generic outline, and why pay for that. but this site is tailored to the professor (but then why pay for that...).

has anyone used this? any good?

It's hit or miss. I made two of my outlines myself, but found another one keyed to my class and professor, and it's nearly flawless. It's almost as good as sitting through the entire class all over again.

Whoever made it even copied down the anecdotes and stories the professor tells in class to emphasize points. That said, I have edited and tailored it with some of my own material.

Definitely hit or miss. I have 3 outlines from them, two are helpful one is almost useless. Too bad there isn't a way of rating the outlines.

you all pay for them? it's like 12 bucks a pop, right? doesn't sound too bad, but if it takes like three shots to get the right one...

Make your own. Much more valuable.

There is a preview feature. Considering a commercial outline is 30+ bucks, and my tuition, what's 12 dollars?

aren't you a 1L? if i'm wrong, then my bad. otherwise, i feel like you can't really say that because you won't know what works for you until some exams and grades. it's a bit presumptuous.

Outline depot is more or less a scam. If you want to read a completely unbiased piece (sarcasm) on why outline depot sucks, check out this blog post. Besides, just google for outlines. I've found about 10 of them for corporations; I tend to copy/paste from multiple outlines (even from outlines with different casebooks), because the substantive material hasn't changed too much. All casebooks talk about the same topics, but they'll use different cases to illustrate their points. Sometimes seeing things from another perspective helps to clarify an otherwise elusive topic.

You still make your own outlines. You just use old student outlines as source material rather than sifting through random classnotes and pages and pages in the casebook.

I bought one. We had a visiting prof over the summer, so I thought I'd give it a try. $12 bucks. I looked at it once or twice. Nothing special.

Downloading a secondary outline and making your own are not mutually exclusive. I always made my own, but always tried to get someone else's outline to make sure there was nothing I was missing, and for help in structuring my own.

Outlinedepot is hit or miss. I've gotten great outlines and a few questionable ones. I've uploaded a few of my own, so I haven't really paid for them. They seemed to have gotten much more strict on what they will accept though. Most of the criticisms that it is a "scam" seem to ignore that you can preview the outline. Usually you can tell if the outline is actually for your class. If you can't, don't download.

I bought one for International Law. I used it to copy and paste stuff that we had gone over in class. Then I added things from my outline. I booked the class. I have not tried it for any other class, but they let you read a couple pages from the outline, which gives you an idea of whether it is any good.

Protip borderline retards like myself upload ones I made to get one's for other class. So your results may vary.

It helped me get a Contracts outline for my prof to compare to though.

It's nice to have other outlines to read through. After I've made an outline and have done some problems, I usually read two or three outlines (not from outline depot, usually gathered from others who've taken the class). I flag any parts of the outline that are particularly cogent or concise, or contain info that my outline lacks, and then I'll plug them later into my outlines.
