Legislation/Regulation - Helpful Harvard students out there?

My school recently just added Legislation and Regulation as part of the 1L curriculum. Apparently, its modeled almost exactly like Harvard's 1L class. Would any one be kind enough to point me in the right direction towards any practice exams or old outlines in this class? There is absolutely nothing regarding this course at my school since its the first year its being taught. Anything would be appreciated!

Come on, Harvard people! You know you want to help us!

Please?

Seriously, we have nothing; it's terrible.

It may not help because even within Harvard the course is taught differently from class to class. Exams are totally different.

Basically it's
- statutory interpretation
- some basic admin law

when my outline is complete (god help me) will send over with a syllabus etc

Definitely buy the Werhan Principles of Admin Law hornbook.

Would that be similar to the Administrative and Regulatory State at NYU? It's a mandatory 1L class here too (but in Spring, so you'd need the help of a 2L).

Yeah I think it may vary a lot from prof to prof...since it covers a lot w/o having to adhere to a very rigid structure. I've found outlines online for all my classes cept my legreg one lol, though I think there are 2 old exams floating around for my specific professor. I'll check.

Don't worry though! Legreg is surprisingly fun imo haha.

I would appreciate anything! I fear this exam so much because I have no idea what to expect from it. It seems like the professor could ask us anything. I'd like to think I take good notes, but without an exam to practice with, it is hard to tell what good they'll do me. If anyone has anything to send, my email is kcg171@gmail.

sorry for the freaking out

haha there must be a lot of variability

my legreg class just got to the chevron doctrine, and after spending 1 class on it, we're moving on lol

we spent half the class on statutory interpretation and half the class on chevron. I'm pretty sure there is nothing that can help me, but taking a practice test would calm me, even if deep down I know there is a good chance the exam I get will be totally different.

We have Regulatory State. $5 says you need to know Chevron, Chevron Step 0, and "Arbitrary and Capricious." Did you guys do canons of construction or whatever?

I'd go over those too. That kind of stuff is very much testable, like in a question:

use canons to see if a statute is ambiguous -> apply Chevron step 0 -> apply Chevron

Any tips would be appreciated. My school is doing Legislation and Regulation for the first time ever as well. We have been given 1 practice question and we will not be given any more. The course was so broad that pretty much every student I have talked to has very little idea what we will be on the exam. We will certain talk about Chevron, State Farm, and statutory interpretation, but we only spent maybe a third of the class on those ideas. Throughout the rest of the course, I really had trouble figuring out what was important. It seems like most of the reading assignments had little or nothing to take away.

I'm still working on my outline, but we have no practice exams to go through, no hornbooks that I know of (although the professor has left a handful of books that don't seem that useful on reserve in the library), and it is pretty much the only class I am worried about.

If anyone has any practice questions (or places to find them) or hornbook recommendations (I think someone posted one above), please share.
