So... Do you think I'd be denied admission to the bar for recreational marijuana use in a state where it is (still) illegal?
I want to be honest, but I also want to practice law.

Got a ticket when he was 17 for walking through the McDonald's Drive thru. Can't out him with state.

No. He didn't write it on his LS application because he forgot about it and it was classified as a civil violation/ordinance violation. He explained to the C&F, disclosed it to them but they dinged him. Now he's trying to get a teaching job in the city. There are hearings about whether to revoke his law degree too.

This is difficult to believe; there must be more to the story such as he was walking through a McDonald's drive-thru wearing a mask with a lit joint & a handgun with absolutely no intention whatsoever of paying for his Big Mac & fries.

What about speeding, it says except minor traffic violations. So does that mean except speeding as long as it isn't anything significant enough, which will result in possible arrest (Doubling the limit for example)? I called a few schools and they said they're looking more for DUI's.

ITE, they want to keep as many people as possible out. If you didn't disclose something, no matter how small, you will be booted. Not only that; a lot of people pass the bar but then get dinged by the biglaw firm they choose.

dinged by a firm after being approved by C&F and passing the bar? do you actually know of this happening, and if so, what the heck did the person do?

I didnt disclose anything on my law school apps and then my advisor had a big talk about C & F and I remembered that my license was taken away for a month sophmore year of high school for hitting a parked car and driving away. He told me he doesnt know if thats terribly serious since it happened when I was 16, but to be safe he said its better to disclose. I wrote up a paragraph about it, sent it, and that was that. Basically, if you have ANYTHING that happened, its better to be safe than sorry.

My legal profession casebook is full of opinion letters and cases involving bar applicants who are guilty of absolutely egregious lapses in honesty, and still got admitted to practice. If you can embezzle funds from the student bar association, cheat on your exams, stab a classmate, and stalk a professor, and still be admitted, then I'm pretty sure that some half-assed jaywalking citation isn't likely to hold you back.
