transferring one month into the first semester...

It's one month into first 1L semester...

Say you went to a local school (tier 3-4) that gave you some money.

But say the school you wanted all along (which permanently waitlisted you) finally let you in this week. This school is top 40 and located in an area where you always wanted to live. Would you make the transition?

How much money is the T3/T4 school giving and how strong is the T40 school's reach into that area?

T3 is giving me about 25,000, but it's renewed conditionally (I have to finish in top third...which isn't guaranteed. Law school seems alot harder than I thought.)

I would take the better school, but you should check if you can get your tuition back from your current school.

I'd pack up and head out to the better school then.

But I would definitely check on loans and tuition refunds.

this week? Yea, i probably wouldn't get a refund from my current school. My new school will hopefully compensate me for at least part of the amount that my previous school charges me (which can't be THAT much...$15,000)?

So financially, it would be like I started out in this school.

OP, sounds like the transfer could be worth it. How far is the move?

Sticker at a T40 isn't bad if it's public and you get instate.

Switch schools obviously. But rad law probably has the soundest advice.

That being said, how in the heck is it possible to be starting school in mid-October?
