Hi,

I am at a T1 (30-40) and I was able to attain LR and membership on a secondary journal. However, I was wondering how difficult it would be to do both as opposed to doing just LR. Does anyone have any experience?

Note: I have already completed my first cite-check for the secondary journal so if I opt out now, I can still keep it on my resume.

I can't see any possible upside to doing both, so long as there's no penalty to withdrawing from the secondary. I'm not sure, however, that I agree that it's ethical to keep it on your resume because you did one assignment.

Barring a strong interest in the subject matter, the secondary is so unnecessary.

Everyone I've heard from that's on LR is swamped with work from it. What's the benefit in staying on a secondary journal? You'd be working yourself even harder and it won't impress employers much. Maybe if you really want to do public interest work when you graduate and have a strong interest in the subject of the journal...

LR is tons, tons of work. For my last assignment, I spent 65 hours in 2 weeks just on the tech check. Its a beast.

If you are so interested in the subject matter of the secondary journal why not just write your note on that topc for LR?

If you are not that interested in the subject matter of the secondary, it really would not make sense at all.

I know nothing of the ethics of putting secondary on your resume after one assignment, but it sounds like something people would regard as douchey. If you interview with a judge, and he asks you about your experience on the journal because you have it on your resume, what are you going to say?

The only upside is that if you stay on the secondary journal, you'll be in a good position to get a leadership position (president, chief editor, etc.) come 3L year. You can obviously run for the same positions on the flagship review, but those will be much harder to get. If you don't care about leadership positions, there's no point.
