And for the popular ones, just put the name into google. Tons of sights with briefs.

I feel like an old "grandpa" trying to navigate Lexus and Westlaw. For whatever reason I get unauthorized to view cases in Lexus, and Westlaw seems to only have the cases 40% of the time. I have a SRU workshop today that is supposed to teach us how to navigate these tools.
I have been googling cases but usually only find them 25% of the time.
Best source of briefs for me has been my case brief book that accompanies my text for Contracts.

wtf?

I've never had either of these problems just typing the cite into the respective search by cite box.

His school might be like mine. Somehow we are blocked from a majority of the things on the site until Spring semester because they want us to learn to do things on our own/with physical books first.

I've only been searching via parties names in Westlaw, :x so searching by citations is the preferred method??
Lexus, still gives me errors, but I plan to find out WTH I'm doing wrong with this SRU class tonight.

Your school sounds like it's got a serious case of FAIL going there.

anyway, i suggest google, you can search court cases via google government, not everything but the major ones.

When your internet is down, or you work for the summer with someone who doesn't have Lexis, enjoy your FAIL.

Uh, why would i be enjoying the fail? Just because our school lets us use wexis doesn't mean they don't force us to learn and use text based research, you do know that a lot of small firms either cannot afford wexis and a lot of big firms wan't you to be uber efficient in your research. Understanding text based research can save a lot of money and lead to a offer at the end of a SA.

Lexis/Westlaw won't have British Cases.

British Cases are those that have strange names for judges, like "Master of Rolls"

You show me a law firm/counsel's office that doesn't have access to either Lexis/Westlaw, bet you I'll show you some malpractice being committed.

IMO the casenote books are easily worth the ~$30 they cost.
