Am I obligated to this lease?

My company moved from MA to WI. I was asked to reallocate to WI. I found an apartment and signed a faxed lease without the landlord's signature and then mail it back to the office lady. 1 week later after they received the mailed lease, I was told by my company that I do not need to reallocate anymore. I then fax them a cancellation notice. This happened 2 weeks before the start date of the lease. I also requested the lease I signed before and they faxed me a lease which only has my signature. This happened 1 week before the start date of the lease. About 3 weeks later, they emailed me another lease which has both my signature and the landlord's signature. The signature from the landlord was dated as 1 week before I sent out the cancellation notice.

Am I still obligated to this lease?

They are sending me bills and asking me to pay the monthly rent now. Is there any suggestions on what I should do?

Thank you in advance!

We can't give legal advice. Sorry. Contact a law firm or try and find a lawyer that does pro bono work.

Any advise will be appreciated! I do not feel I should pay the rent, but also afraid of things getting worse if I do not take any actions.

Sorry. If this post should not go here, please give me some information on where I should post if there is any.

One reason I post it here is this sounds like a typical exam question.

Anyone who answers you here could get permanently disbarred for the unlicensed practice of law. giving legal advice to a real life person is the practice of law, and you have to have a license to do that.
