Frugality in Law School

How do you ensure that 10 years from now you can afford to go out to a restaurant to eat a meal instead of eating ramen at home because you are broke?
- I cook almost all my meals
- Carry lunch to school
- Take the free school bus to go around the place
- Buy books only when I see that I'll need them
- Go to campus parties and have other friends pay for the off campus ones.
What do you do?
N.B. Saving money by jacking off instead of going to a prostitute = PRICELESS!

I don't take showers or wash my clothes. Hell, I just live there. No sense in paying rent. If you hide in the AC vents in the bathroom at closing time no one will ever know. Shhh.

Don't go to bar review and cut your living expenses in half.

By not skimping on things that won't add up to significant expenses over three years and by indulging in things, of which are minimally expensive, that will keep my sanity in tact (like occasional meals out, getting hammered once in awhile, etc.).
I also plan on pre-gaming in my apartment heavily before going out, bar tabs can get out of control fast.

My bar tabs get way more out of control if I've been drinking heavily before going out.

TCR is: Get a job so you can do those things NOW as opposed to in 10 years.

I am public interest all the way. I will be eating ramen for the rest of my life.

I knew a guy in undergrad who secretly lived in a room in one of the campus buildings. He got a PT job as a janitor, copied the key, and found this hidden room no one used. Nobody found him until he moved his stuff out 4 years later.
Actually, in a building as confusing as Boalt, I could probably do that.

You guys suck at living frugal.
* McDonalds has .29/.39 cent hamburgers/cheeseburgers every Wednesday and Sunday. Buy 5-6 bucks worth of them and freeze them. Then nuke(microwave) them on demand. Bam, you're eating "out" AND you have food for 20 bucks a month.
* Pirate or copy your book with an "unattended" office printer.
* Sell your ass for rides and spare change.
* Skip parties and drink solo with moonshine you made in your locker.

I host frat parties on weekends and charge $5/male.
I literally get everything I want at the same time.

My school's clubs sponsor our version of bar review.

Pretty much same as OP.
One exception is I've regretted buying 3 of my supplements.
Oh, and my rent/utilities is capped while living on-campus.

Told the butler to cut the cat's caviar allotment. Something had to give.

Drive a scooter, 70mpg, so much more fun than a car- i've spent about 12 dollars on gas since august 10th and I live 5ish miles from the school
buy a computer as good as a mac without the premium for "cool"- 300 bucks saved right there
Not ever getting drunk helps, a glass of merlot at dinner and then back to studying for me!
cheap hobbies- mainly fantasy football and racquetball
shop at thrift stores to develop indie look- I see close to 80-90 polo shirts a day, so this one is more out of spite

ShopSavvy application on your smartphone. It can read a barcode and then tell you where you can find the item cheaper whether that's online or in a local store. Can't wait to use it, i've just played around with it so far.

Or, instead, don't have a smartphone.
