Reading through your gunner threads and "how's it going so far" threads, it's pretty clear that a lot of you are feeling a little (or a lot) at sea. I wanted to chime in and reiterate that things will only get better from here. By December you'll have a crystal clear idea of what is expected of you, both in class and on the exam, and a strong sense that your work will be rewarded come grade release time. Speaking of which, your professors will definitely understand your anxiety about those first sets of exams - so expect to be given lots of very specific instructions, lots of practice exams with feedback, and a quick grading turnaround once finals are over.
Come the spring, everyone should really be coming into their own. The people who want to do journal work or land big firm jobs will be able to work towards those goals comfortably. Everyone will get a strong sense for what kind of law they want to practice from the broad 1L curriculum and be well positioned to take appropriate steps to actualize those career goals.
By the time you're back on campus as a 2L, it will be a wonder you ever felt any stress about this process at all. People will be cordial and friendly, and those who do well will be extremely sensitive and discrete about their success when around those who were less fortunate. Everyone will have really developed a sense of camaraderie and perspective. Those awkward moments of in-class gunners or clear sucking up will be long forgotten fragments of memory.

+1. It doesn't really get any harder than this. They dump all of the hard stuff on you at first to scare you. So, if you already feel like ls is a breeze, hell, you'll be money come exam time. You might even have time during the exam to leave and buy some baked goods.

I liked your success in law school thread better, but this isn't bad.

What's all this fuss I hear about rules against perpetuities then?

Am I the only one getting extreme sarcasm from the OP? (or is my sarcasm radar just broken. not that I had a working one originally anyhow.)

NOPE.
If he is, it's too discrete for any 1L's to recognize it anyways.

DB is always incredibly helpful and civil in all of his posts. At no point have I ever suspected him of deliberately misleading or poking fun at 0Ls or 1Ls.
He is an upstanding citizen, and a good person.

Is it bad that three of my professors have promised in-depth exam review sessions in which they will go over old exams and what they consider to be good answers?

Pretty sure, yeah.
They said something about
res judicata today.
Or he might have had something caught in his throat.

Hilarious. 172. Sorry, but points had to be deducted for the misuse of "discrete." You can't be supercilious and misuse words.

We should have an "Ask a 2L/3L" thread for any nervous 1L questions. I'd be more than happy to contribute.
Although I guess the 0L Question Thread kind of has that covered? Bah it's late!

Pfft get real dude. I like all the threads about what to bring, how much of the text between cases to read, random chat, what supplements to buy, etc. That's much better than sound advice from those at or near the top of their class. I mean, why would you read old/stickied threads when you can ask stupid questions? This isn't sarcastic at all by the way. Nope, not one bit.
