Thought I'd share this for all those Mac users who are getting ready to purchase Office for the fall. Any MS Office 2008 purchased on or after 8/1/2010 will also be eligible to get a free upgrade to Office 2011 when it's released in late October. I don't think that the cheap academic versions of Office that you can usually find at your school are eligible for the upgrade but you can get the full version from Microsoft's website for $119 with a working @edu email.

Eh...Office is like $47 at least at my school. At that price, it'd be cheaper to buy '08 and then buy '11 if you really needed it.

Biggest new features are co-authoring, Mac ribbon interface, and a Mac version of Outlook with .pst support. I don't see anything that would warrant an upgrade for 99% of users.

I'm getting a new laptop soon, so that's interesting to know. Thanks for the link, lawduder.
