What do you typically do during a legal methods class during your 1L. Is it mainly learning how to write, or are there a lot of presentations and oral arguments?

I imagine this varies depending on which school you're at, but at CLS our LM class consisted of learning how to read cases and gaining exposure to different types of legal reasoning. We went through a book entitled Legal Methods (written by the prof) and experienced cold-calling for the first time. We learned about legal writing and oral args in a separate, year-round, class.

You should ask this question in the "[your school] 1/2Ls taking questions" forum, though, to get the most useful answer. Good luck!

Our LM class (called LRW at some schools) consisted of legal research (looking stuff up in books at the brary), memo and brief writing, and appellate-style oral argument. I'm guessing, as deneuve39 said, it's different at every school.
