Free 1-year Amazon Prime membership for students
http://www.amazon.com/student
Amazon Prime is a $79 value that offers free 2-day shipping on most Amazon products, and an upgrade to 1-day shipping for $3.99 per item.
You need a valid .edu address, and be careful - they do state that if you are caught and are not a student that you will be charged for any and all associated costs to Amazon.
edit: I typo lots. If a mod wants to move this somewhere where it'll get more traffic, feel free.

is there any fine print? Like if we don't discontinue the service after a year we start getting billed for it?

I looked through the TOS (if there's one thing 1L taught me to do, it was read the fine-print), apparently, the auto-renewal doesn't apply to student accounts.pjo wrote:is there any fine print? Like if we don't discontinue the service after a year we start getting billed for it?

Is this a new thing they are doing, or has it been around for a while (which would make me sad as I could have TOTALLY exploited this in UG)?

Re: Free 1-year Amazon Prime membership for students
This is brand spanking new. I got it from slickdeals.com earlier today. It is the early front runner for "deal of the year" for slickdeals.
There are, as far as anyone can tell, absolutely no strings attached to this. They may continue to use/do this beyond the current "1 year" spot, as well.
I'm just spreading the word after finding this at slickdeals

Personally, I feel that "student" applies as long as you can receive e-mails from your .edu address. Technically, I could sign up now, since I still get my umich.edu emails (even though I graduated over 3 years ago). However, since the program hasn't yet been extended past the year mark, I'm waiting as long as I can to sign up so I can use this for as much 1L-related stuff as possible.NewHere wrote:Hm, what is their definition of student? No, student means that you're currently enrolled in college. They warn in the terms and conditions about being able to provide proof of enrollment on request.chicagolaw2013 wrote:Personally, I feel that "student" applies as long as you can receive e-mails from your .edu address. I get lifetime use of my .edu addy, and I don't think that makes me a "student" forever.

I can't find any terms and conditions other than the general Amazon Prime T&C, which says nothing about students. Where did you find more?

Went to http://www.amazon.com/student, clicked on "Join Amazon Student," clicked on "Amazon Student FAQ," then clicked on "Amazon Student Terms & Conditions." Looks nowhere near as intimidating as your typical T&C, though that's probably because it incorporates the Amazon Prime T&C, Conditions of Use, etc. as part of the agreement.NewHere wrote:I can't find any terms and conditions other than the general Amazon Prime T&C, which says nothing about students.
