better to use a home gym while in law school?

Hey guys, just wanted to get your thoughts on whether you think it is better to use a home gym while in law school. I hear horror stories that during 1L you won't have much free time. I'm thinking home gym (bowflex) is the way to go to (at least during the semester). What do you think?

Have you ever been to a gym before?
Don't be a nerd. You can spend 45 minutes at the gym.

I go all the time--i'm just wondering if it is a good idea to cut out commute time to the gym by just working out at home (so as to free up as much study time during the semester).

if your commute is that terrible, and you can't make it a part of your daily trip to law school, then sure go with bowflex....as an avid amateur bodybuilder though, i know personally it wouldnt work for me...the benefits of going to the gym that i would never want to give up are: change of scenery, i dont like working out at home since that is not where i want to associate with working out, the equipment in a (good) gym cant be matched by a bowflex, and its a social break for me from the hectic real world...i like to go to gyms and see people, talk to them, and enjoy my workout. i dislike working out at home where i cant do that, especially when its far too easy to sit on my couch, watch tv, or just simply stop without finishing my workout. but if those things wont bother you, and your not as much of a gym monkey like me, then you should be fine i would think...but remember, gyms are popular for good reasons...lots of people can afford bowflexes and dont use it...just make sure your reasons work out for you.

I wouldn't coop yourself up in your house all day every day. 1L isn't so busy that you can't spare some time every day for physical activity and a change of scenery. It helps more than you realize.
The biggest thing for me is that it kept me from getting sick. When I work out regularly I never get sick. As soon as I stop I get knocked out for a week. A few days in bed can really hurt.
Or get one of these

Bow flex is garbage. Get a pull-up bar. Pull ups, push ups, and crunches can go a long way.

I went to the gym 5 days a week (outside of maybe 3-4 weeks before finals, where I cut it down to 3-4 times a week) and did fine.
You can too.
/thread.

+1
Getting away from school and away from your apartment does wonders.
