Top Law Schools

I'm curious, after completing the first year law school, what did you think?

I like the law more then I thought I would. Really enjoyed this year and everything I learned.

I love law school. Honestly, even though I was a stress-bucket for most of it, looking back I realize I actually had a fantastic time 1L year. I just...really like learning the law. What was really surprising was how much I enjoyed moot court and mock trial...I get horrendous stage fright, so I thought I'd wig out. It was actually kind of a rush.

I'm really happy it's the summer, though. It'll be nice to get back to it in the fall, but for now, having a break is awesome.

Should have never gone to property/contracts
Torts was awesome

Harder than I thought it would be. People always tend to exaggerate hard shit, but with law school I think the rumors are pretty accurate. Oh and +1 Torts is the only interesting class you first year.

Can't wait to do more moot court trial team stuff; best part of law school IMO

Torts bored me. I like Contracts and Civil Procedure more

In point of fact, I don't belong in here. I'm not finished yet. But since I need a break from condensing my torts outline:

I would not have stopped singing. That is a strange regret, but I think it speaks for all the things we loved that we gave up for lack of time, real or perceived. I would have put in more pro bono hours. I think I could've gone to two or three days a week as soon as I was no longer working, given my part time status (one class under a full time course load.)

I would have traveled more, and when my classmates bothered me to go get drinks with them on Thursday nights, I would've said yes. Turning to academics, I would've learned to type faster. That is the only worthwhile 0L prep I can think of. I would've told my friends how much they meant to me, and made more of a concerted effort to see the people I was close to before this grand adventure started.

That's all for the moment, I think. It's been a rough year at times, but a very good one.

Very credited, I would not have given up going to the gym 5 times a week despite the fact that it put a nominal dent into the amount of time I was able to spend studying... Although, during finals, everything went out of the window...

+1. everything i really needed to know I learned the couple weeks before finals. could have spent the previous hours having more fun with friends/family.

i think i am selectively remembering the better times of 1L so the workload doesn't seem as bad in retrospect. overall, i didn't have any major breakdowns and i still have all my limbs, so i guess it couldn't have been too bad.

i am most proud that i worked out regularly and never thought of giving up. i am least proud of taking all those weekends off and not talking to my outside friends as much as i should have. now that i am calling people they are all asking me where i have been for the past year. anyone else getting that?

the best thing i will take from 1L is definitely my friends from my section/study group. i have had the opportunity to meet some really awesome people and i hope over 2L and 3L i will meet more awesome people.

apparently when i reflect i think in really broad terms.

I don't wish I'd studied less, but I do wish I'd taken the time I spent worrying, and spent it drinking, or visiting my mom in California, or learning to sing Song to the Moon in the original Czech. (I swear that I will do it before I die.) The adage about "first year they scare you to death" really is true.

I'm glad, though, and my overall memories are very happy.

I have almost never been so happy for something to be over than when I stepped out of the exam room today and finished my 1L year......and I love law school. It is freaking EXHAUSTING.
