Haha. Me, too. In fact, I am tempted to start a campaign encouraging people to drop out. I'll pretend to be on board until enough people have quit that my chances increase, at which point I'll get back in the game.Leeroy Jenkins wrote:I hope a lot of people at my school chose this route.IzziesGal wrote:I'm just this close to saying "screw it."
Sigh. I really have no shot at this.
Edit: Law school truly is a humbling experience. I have never questioned my own capabilities as much as I have in the last year. Argh.

we just got an email from the associate dean basically saying "I see most of you haven't turned it in yet...well, good luck". hopefully the burnout trail is thick. unfortunately, that includes me.

My dog is literally eating my research.
When I write a thesis, I have papers scattered all over the place with sticky tabs and highlighter marks, etc. Well, my beloved pomeranian just dove in and started chewing my instructions to shreds. I think he feels my pain.

Re: Write-On Support Group
After reading this post, I feel pretty lucky. We got 219 pages of reading, one ten page memo, and thirty footnotes to bluebook. The memo is LRW style and was really focused (they practically wrote the two "Questions Presented" for us) and has a ten page limit. One week to finish. The only downside is that there is less of a chance of counting on a burnout trend.

I've hated writing the first 80% of this thing far too much to not write the last 20%.wiseowl wrote:+1Leeroy Jenkins wrote:I hope a lot of people at my school chose this route.IzziesGal wrote:I'm just this close to saying "screw it."

First competition is finished (international law journal). On to the Gender, Race, and Justice journal.

Re: Write-On Support Group
Yes ma'am, we got all the packets after the last final. We had until today for the international one. Next Monday, the gender one is due. The Monday following that, L. Rev. is due. We have a corporate law journal, but that packet is due the same day as the gender journal.IzziesGal wrote:You have a separate competition for each journal?mikeytwoshoes wrote:First competition is finished (international law journal). True but it forces you to practice bluebooking and writing. That way the L. Rev. competition isn't so bad.prezidentv8 wrote:That SUCKS.IzziesGal wrote:You have a separate competition for each journal?mikeytwoshoes wrote:First competition is finished (international law journal). Are the packets relatively small at least?

Re: Write-On Support Group
The one I just finished was about 40 pages. Gender journal is about 80 pages (only one case, two statutes, and a bunch of social science articles). L. Rev. is only about 60 pages (cases, statutes, journal articles - we're supposed to cite primary source material discussed in the secondary source material).IzziesGal wrote:Wow. Just wow. I think I've been affected in another way. I've never been so sure in my life that nobody out in the world has any idea what exactly they are doing.thesealocust wrote:IzziesGal wrote:Law school truly is a humbling experience. Hopefully this happens at my school as well. We have a week off between finals and the writing competition so hopefully students decide it isn't worth it after a taste of freedom.BunkMoreland wrote:I'd like to add my support to this thread by saying alot of people at my school are saying "fuck it!"

Re: Write-On Support Group
the editors aren't reading this thread dear. you can be honest.amyLAchemist wrote:Ok, so I am late to this par-tay. A few things. Packet is really big. WTF-level big. I think devising an attack plan really eliminates a lot of the OH MY GOD WHAT DO I DO feeling. Making a list of "must reads" and "read if applicable" was good, and an order to do the must reads in. Our main case is really interesting at least. Common issues between the majority and the dissent (on opposite sides of course) seem like useful starting points for kicking around ideas.
Also, maybe it is just me, but I think coming up with a thesis without having looked over much stuff might be a needless stresser. I have a list of possible ideas, and I am going to figure out what ideas are best developed in the given sources and roll with that.
Editing packet - I know it's kinda sick and twisted, but I actually enjoyed doing this. But I like line editing and bluebooking....sooo.....
