Why should law school students care about leaked rankings. For that matter, why would anyone care?pennstatepride wrote:Has anyone heard anything yet re leaked ranks???
lol that was memorablestarlight007 wrote:Nada.
But I can't personally wait to enjoy the frenzy like last year with the devoted TLS member hailing a cab to Grand Central at 3am in search of the rankings.
Being a 3L is incredibly boring; leaked rankings are fun!!!mikeytwoshoes wrote:Why should law school students care about leaked rankings. For that matter, why would anyone care?pennstatepride wrote:Has anyone heard anything yet re leaked ranks???

A TLS member heard that there was an official copy of the rankings at Penn Station, and took a cab there at like 3am or some crazy time like that, all while updating the TLS board via Blackberry. The magazine was indeed there, which was like a week early I believe.sibley wrote:pennstatepride wrote:lol that was memorablestarlight007 wrote:Nada.

whatttt? details please.
also, I want to see the new rankings because I'm trying to decide which school I want and something like that will influence me (eg. if my 30k scholly school dropped I don't want it, if it went up a bit I feel like it has more promise)...I realize it's one year and not that big of a difference...but it makes the decision easier.
lol that's amazing. so how's GW? I was never seriously considering it because I wanted free school. but I'm starting to want a little bit of prestige.pennstatepride wrote:A TLS member heard that there was an official copy of the rankings at Penn Station, and took a cab there at like 3am or some crazy time like that, all while updating the TLS board via Blackberry. Long story short, our beloved Fordham Princess, OperaSoprano became a cultural icon that morning because she hopped into a cab purchased the magazine and posted the rankings with screenshots within the hour. Seriously, it was phenomenal.
Not based on. Just helping.TTT-LS wrote:I love how idiot 0Ls make decisions based on year-over-year "trends" in USNWR rankings (e.g., "Fordham moved up 4 spots this year, so I'll go there!"). Usually these are done with little to no awareness of longer-term trends, and even when people are aware of those trends, they still read far, far too much into small changes in the current year.
If you have two choices and this year's USNWR rankings help you make your choice, you are basing your choice largely upon this year's rankings. Your distinction between based on and helping is like splitting hairs.sibley wrote:Not based on. Well... to base something on something else is usually construed as using that something else as the driving incentive to make that decision. Helping does not necessarily equate to this.mikeytwoshoes wrote:If you have two choices and this year's USNWR rankings help you make your choice, you are basing your choice largely upon this year's rankings.
