Ummmmm....this thread, just like the reported employment statistics at law schools, is far more likely to draw in the students who fared better.

Also this survey is kinda skewed. The top half has about five classes, while the bottom half has only one class.

Note that the population of the lounge is almost completely separate from the population of the LSF. The LSF is like a little refuge on TLS. We have the occasional hopeless 0L or newbie law student stroll in, but for the most part it's one small group of high strung law students.Desert Fox wrote:If true it is frightening after looking at the lounge. You have 10 options. Use them all.

If I had to make a generalization about the average TLSer at UVA, I'd say that he/she is sharper than the average person at UVA. Now how strongly "intelligence" (however you choose to measure it) correlates with grades is anyone's guess, but I am not shocked by the results of this poll.
FWIW I did not select one of the top few options. I'm no TTT-LS or Steve Nash.

TITCR - It still surprises me how many people put the absolute minimal effort into their classwork in law school.JSUVA2012 wrote:Talk to people 3, 6, and 12 months into it.T14_Scholly wrote:Everyone I know who is applying to law school thinks about law school a lot.

Just a point of advice to OP and other 0Ls, posting on TLS and asking for TLSers is redundant. Do something similar on a memo or brief and you get B- in legal writing. Combine that with the improper apostraphe between "TLS" and "ers," and you get a C. Law schools are hellish on grammar, proofing, etc.

I'm an INFJ (adjusted for feeling=wanting to go into public interest law). Am I going to be in the top 1% too?TTT-LS wrote:I think the INTJ thing is credited. That's me, and I entered my top 1% 1L finish. This may be the first time I've ever acknowledged that openly on TLS, buy hey, I graduate in a few weeks, so I guess it's probably okay at this point.

He's top 1% because he's smart and motivated, not because of INTJ.calgal17 wrote:I'm an INFJ (adjusted for feeling=wanting to go into public interest law). Re: 1L+ TLS'ers, where were you in your first year class rank?
I could not disagree more. I'm a regular poster but I'm nowhere near the top of the class. That says nothing about the strength of this forum. The people who are top X% are there because they are smart, diligent, good at processing mountains of information. This forum never made anyone a top 5% student.disco_barred wrote:Are those of you skeptical of the %age 0Ls?
As a 1L, it was pretty clear that basically the ONLY regular posters on the students forum kicked ass and took names. Note that I said regular posters. i.e. those most likely to pop in and vote in a poll.
I am not for a second skeptical of the claim, and think it reflects extremely strongly on the collective wisdom you can find - and apply - here on TLS.
What do I know I'm not a top 5% student.

lol, i lied in this poll because i thought it was silly to make such a poll and think that it would be accurate, and having a lopsided 1-5% section would highlight that fact

I voted truthfully. I'm also INTJ if that means anything.

This. I answered truthfully in this poll. I cannot post my rank here. Oh, the panda? I was visiting FG in San Diego, and we went to the zoo. They usually sleep all day, but this one was munching on bamboo, and he looked up as we passed. LRW is going to be my lowest grade. I have a feeling about this, and I'm not usually wrong. Should I take this as evidence that I'm not cut out for litigation? I seem to be good at property, and classifying estates.... nonprofit transactional work FTW?

Re: 1L+ TLS'ers, where were you in your first year class rank?
Maybe I'm the odd man out and everyone is being truthful, but I REALLY doubt it. I mean top 10-15% is a very respectable rank, but we only have 5% in that range while having 33% in the top 5% ? Same for 15-25 with only 6%? I don't buy it for one second. But, in the interest of being generally honest just pretend that one of those 44 top 5% votes isn't there and is down a few notches.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
