Top Law Schools

So my thread about whether I should consider being a 1L rep for SBA generated some good discussion, what about clubs? Surely joining a practice area club like Securities Law Club, or Sports and Entertainment Law Club couldn't hurt right? Maybe learn some things, while making a couple of connections? Would a 1L position in a club take up less time then SBA rep? Anyone know from experience? Obviously grades are the most important thing, but I'd like to be a little active (good way to meet upperclassman, other people not in your section).

My school doesn't have any clubs like that?

Otherwise, join a club you want to job and don't join any you don't. Pretty simple arithmetic, really.

Do it if its fun. I'm in one or two clubs depending on if I feel like it. They're okay.

You know, we have a specific thread for 0Ls to ask questions in. It's called "0L" questions. Why are people posting thousands of threads on 0L questions that have already been answered? I can't even find the real law school dicussions anymore; do we even have them?

We should lock 0Ls out of the Forum for Law School Students until August and then hand them the keys to the kingdom.

They only real value in this forum for 0Ls is to read about what law school students are going through. Maybe we should allow them to read but not post.

Nobody reads that section of the forum, if I post there only 0Ls who don't know much will respond. Therefore I look for current law students, as the title of this section suggests for input.

I think this is entirely fair. However, I have always found it odd that people complain about posters making thread they do not want to read. It is not like there is a limited and precious amount of internet, and these threads are wasting it. My radical solution to this problem is not to read them.

Anyway, joining clubs at my school involves getting on their email list. It is not much of a commitment. An advantage if you then actually go to the meetings is that you meet some 2Ls and 3Ls. This can be especially beneficial if it is a club that involves a competitive element you want to become involved in it later. The prime example is the moot court club.

No, dumbass, it clutters the forum with topics it's not meant to fucking deal with. Hence the 0L questions thread. Yes we do read that thread but more importantly all the 0L questions have been answered a thousand times over. Go the first post in the thread and read the links. Your question may not be asked explicitly but the advice you seek is in there somewhere. Look at as a preview of law school. No one actually answers questions in law school. They just tell you where to look for the answer.

Wow. This really is law school to a fucking T. If you want straight answers, you pretty much have squeeze professors' necks into submission. And no 0Ls here are going to squeeze our necks.
