Curious if anyone knows about how employers view a directed study program? Is this something worth doing over the summer?

Probably negatively, if it isn't legal work and it's during law school.

Well, it's a funny situation. I have an internship lined up at a small NYC firm. I'm only required to work part time for 2-3 days per week. I was offered another internship at a large entertainment corporation's business and legal affairs dept, but they only do internships for credit. The only way for me to receive credit would be to treat it as a directed study. I guess my question is, is it worth paying for these extra credits since they would not be paying me? I know a lot of 1L's aren't getting paid this summer, but to pay credits to intern somewhere seems ridiculous. But at the same time it could be a good experience.

Oh, interesting. Employers would see nothing wrong with that, I'd imagine. And credits are good, though paying for them is bad. Tough call, but I think all positive in the eyes of an employer.

Wouldn't this mean you have to pay for less credits later? So it is not a real cost in the long run.
