Are there cities in VA, outside of the DC area?

OP's question is a real puzzler.

If I had to guess, UVA, then W&M, then W&L, then Mason/Richmond, then Regent, the Liberty. But that's just for Virginia schools. Vandy/Emory might place well in Richmond as well. Maybe UNC/Wake?

I wouldn't be trying to get Richmond BigLaw from any school other than YHS or UVA. Possibly one of the toughest markets in the South to get, largely due to UVA's proximity and connections.

So Hunton & Williams and mcguirewoods are based in Richmond. Check out some of their associate bios - http://www.hunton.com

Looks like some associates from all over the place including TTTs.

I'd say nothing out of state. Much of the T14 can place anywhere, but I doubt they're headed to Richmond. I would think it would be UVA first, with W&L and W&M just about even after that, followed by U of Richmond. Of course, much of this is self-select.

I can't imagine Regent and Liberty have the ability to place biglaw at all; NLJ has them at ~1% in the VA/D.C. area. I think Mason would be out, too, but only because most of its alumni look for work across the river.

McGuire Wood's largest incoming associate class (6) was from the University of Richmond last year.

3% of UVA grads stay in Virginia, which means most of the Virginia firm jobs are probably available to W&M and W&L grads, though it seems many firms are pretty saturated with Richmond grads for some reason.

As a likely W&M student next semester willing to stay in Virginia after graduation, I like my odds at 145k/yr.

Just because W&M probably puts more people in Richmond BigLaw than any other school doesn't mean your odds are that good.

Even the big boys of Richmond (H&W and mcguirewoods) are dipping down to median at UVA but I doubt they're going lower than top 10% or so at W&M.

What? Only median? Things are getting ridiculously bad.
