You need to do a whole hell of a lot more research before you go to law school.

Litigation involves settling disputes, sometimes in court, sometimes through pre-trial settlements, sometimes through alternative dispute resolution. It involves a lot of researching law and legal theories, taking depositions, reviewing documents/evidence, writing and responding to motions, etc.
Transactional work is about transactions: buying and selling things/land/businesses/stock/bonds/etc., forming partnerships/corporations, writing contracts, arranging financing, etc.

Litigation involves working on transactions and transactional practice involves litigating cases.
