Help with grade distribution

Post by DNA1984 » Sat Jan 23, 2010 2:53 am

Grades just came out, waiting for rank is killing me. I got a 3.02. We are on a 4 point scale. Forced curve for my classes from 2.165-2.5. I hear the median is usually about a C+ from what I hear. From last year I heard someone with a 3.03 was 19th percentile.

I'm just crossing my fingers for top 25%

If 3.03 is 19th percentile then 3.02 is going to be ... 19-20%.

This isn't exactly complicated.

What I meant was within that range, what percentile would my GPA be? Do grade distributions vary much from year to year?

My school has grade distributions for the last 3-4 classes, and they don't seem to shift too substantially.

Your school probably has similar information.

From what I've heard, when a 3.03 GPA is 19th percentile one year, the next year, 3.03 is around 75th percentile the following year. It happens like clock works. Sucks to be you.

But really, unless the school changes the curve, I can't imagine that the grade distributions would change dramatically. Relax, you're probably in the 18-22% range.

You mean 81st percentile, not 19th.

Also, brutal curve.

yeah, I'm just kinda worried that the median is forced from a 2.165 to a 2.5
