Top Law Schools

Hello, I am currently applying to law school and I have been thinkign about picking up a couple of used E and E's just to see what the material will be like in law school. Would this be a decent idea to figure out how I will like/handle the material in law school? More than anything else I'm just curious about what I'll be studying for the next three years. If I were to get one, should I get the Glannons E & E for torts? I read in the sucess in law school article that its one of the relatively easy ones to understand as 0L.

A better book for you is "Law 101." If you can make it through that, you can probably make it through a casebook once you begin law school.

I wouldn't bother . . . but if you want to read something, I would suggest Chirelstein's Concepts and Case Analysis in Contracts (blue book with ship on the cover) or Abraham's Forms and Functions of Tort Law (blue book with train tracks on cover). Both are very readable and will give you a much better general understanding of the law than any of the E & E's

0L prep is a hotly contested subject, especially on TLS. This is because no one can be quite sure how or if it actually works.

Having done 0L prep (E&Es, LEEWS, PLSII, GTM) it is hard to say what effect it had. E&Es and other supplements are resources that largely become relevant only after you determine what each professor wants/ is teaching.

My advice is to maybe read PLSII or Law School Confidential just to get an idea about what you're getting into. Other than that, relax/ party/ go outside. Don't think about law school (if that's possible).

If you insist, read Getting to Maybe & Bridging the Gap this summer.
Until then, have a life.
Don't let law school take that away until you have to.
Besides, each prof will teach different things, in different orders, and with different approaches. Your focus will be your grade in your professor's course. You will gain nothing by reading material you may not even cover--especially 11 months before your first law school exam.

Try "Thinking Like A Lawyer: A New Introduction to Legal Reasoning" by Frederick Schauer. It'll give you an idea what "thinking like a lawyer" is like, which is a lot more important to learn than specific subject matter. You can learn the subject matter in classes easily, it's the "legal thinking" part that you're largely left to do on your own, and that having a head start on helps most.

Well... if, out of curiosity, you are just trying to get a feel for what the subject matter in law school is like, I wouldn't recommend against reading an E&E. But if your goal is to start your preparation now (for a final exam that you will take in 11 months), I'd advise you to do something else instead. I don't think there is much you can do to prepare.

i'd recomend Law school confidential, great over view of what to expect in school and some common sense advice.It's a simple book.
