Transferring from U. Arizona to the east coast - chances??

Post by ClemsonGrad » Sat Jan 16, 2010 1:29 pm

I go to the U. of Arizona (#43) and I am looking at the following schools for next year:
U. Alabama - #30
U. Georgia - #35
UNC - Chapel Hill (low on my list) - #30
U. Virginia - #10

What kind of GPA do you think you would need for these?

Transfers are always very difficult to predict from year-to-year. There is very little reliable data other than what is posted on forums like this. What makes this especially challanging is that you are looking to 4 different state schools.

With respect to UVA, you'll likely need to be in the top 5% coming from a school like Arizona. However, UVA has over-enrolled now for 2 years straight.

With respect to the other 3 state schools listed, are you are resident of any of these states? If so, top 25% might suffice.

I'm not a resident, but my grades are pretty good. Hopefully that will be enough.

Also, would anyone be able to figure out how to calculate where one stands in the class with this info:

3.05 mean
25% A
55% B
20% C

I don't have specific GPA numbers, just that law review is top 10%.
